A lot of you should already know about the wealth involved in the new trend setting casual gaming’s market. All thanks to Mochi Ads and Google Adsense, one can now easily create a game site without having to fork out a couple grand for a complicated game submission framework.
A relatively good game made by a developer can make about 100 dollars with 100000 views in a period of say 2 days. That gives the publisher about 20 bucks? This is just with 1 normal game. a reallly reallllly good game will generate you more otherwise.
A good game example: Gem Craft:
And now this has been made easily achievable with something like Wordpress. Of course, you will need some technical skills still in order to set this kind of things up. This is not for an average computer-not-so-literate person.
The “most wanted flash games” was originally created with the idea of running competitions (user submission games) etc which did not end up anywhere. One day I realized, “hey why dont’ I just set it all up in wordpress with a nice looking theme” and here you go, completed in JUST 2 sleepless nights and days. (About 36 hours)
Why is it so simple? As a Mochi Publisher, you can import the feed from Mochi Ads and have all the games added to your site with a special plugin.
This website as you can imagine is powered by Mochi Media.
I will now in this post teach those who are interested in making passive income through your very own blog.
Estimated Time Required: 5 Hours (+unlimited hours of tweaking for your own satisfaction)
Technology: MochiAds, WordPress, Web Server and Internet
Steps:
- Register with

- Go find a good server that has about 5G space and good bandwidth coverage. (mt) MediaTemple.net is a good place to start.
- Install Wordpress on to your server from Wordpress.org. Follow their tutorials about how to set it all up.
- Now this is tricky part. Goto your publisher account inside Mochi Ads and follow their steps about how to set up domain verification. You obviously need your own domain.
- Once your website has been setup and your Wordpress all running and good, you will need to 1st find a good theme for your website. Due to the competition in this market, I will not release the theme used on “mostwanted flash games” as it is result of quite some work
- Anyways once that has been done, you will need to install the following plugins to your Wordpress.
a. SWFObjet Plugin (for flash)
b. MochiAd Importer
c. Google AdSense Banner Plugin
d. Whatever else you need on your blog …
The MochiAd importer plugin was originally started by Fernandos. (sorry about misspelling) I have made modifications to the plugin to cater for better file management so that the process is much more streamlined and automated. [DOWNLOAD FILE HERE]- In order for MochiAd published games to generate money on your website, you are required to host the actual game file on your server. This is exactly what the MochiAd importer do to save you from having to manually download the game and upload and embed using some SWF plugin.
- The plugin simply downloads the JSON RSS Feed from MochiAds and import that into your database “wp_mochi”. Then the plugin allows you to import the games into your Wordpress as posts. Some of the important properties in the feed is imported into posts as Metas infos. They are as follows:
a. description
b. height
c. instructions
d. author
e. swf_url (the original mochi url)
f. site_swf_url (the url on your server)
g. thumbnail_url (the thumnail url)
h. zip_url (the zip file containing the swf)
i. popularity (not sure)
j. width - The file can be found here. Simply download it and upload it into your “wp-content/plugins/” folder on your server.
- Now, you will actually need to do some simple coding. Because there aren’t really any Wordpress themes out there that is catered for Flash Files only, you will need to make modifications to the theme you chose for your install.
- By editing the “single.php” file of your theme, you will need to create a SWF Object using the Meta properties associated with the post.
- Embed Java Script Code
<!-- swfobject.embedSWF("", "flashgamediv", "", "", "9.0.0","/wp/wp-content/plugins/swfobj/expressInstall.swf", false, false, false) -->
- You are done. Customize the rest of your site as you wish. I guess what is important is the main page where games should be vividly displayed to attract users to stay.
- For some reason, my site’s impressions have went down since the wordpress implementation. I am guessing something about wordpress vs search engine optimization.
